New talents Jason Reynolds and Jason Griffin make their debut into the published world with a remarkably fresh and unique zine-like collection of text and art in My Name is Jason. Mine Too., a full color paperback perfectly styled for teens. Forged during the trials of being starving young artists in a big city, uncertain if they would succeed or fail but doing whatever it took to try, the work and friendship of these two young men is gripping and real.

Perfect for teens and graduates on the verge of adulthood or adults looking back on their early years in the working world, Reynolds and Griffin’s story is both personal and relatable: moving to Brooklyn, NY, living on cans of tuna, striving to create, and never letting go of their dreams This is their story of what it is to be young, creative, and determined to make your way in the world without sacrificing who you are. Its inspiring and hope-filled message will resonate with many—that that to be yourself, wholly and completely, is to have achieved.

Poet Jason Reynolds has self-published three books, including SELF with collaborator Jason Griffin, and served as the first artist-in-residence at Penn State University. He has a B.A. in Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park, and has been featured at colleges and universities all over the country. Reynolds has shared a stage with Sonia Sanchez, Amiri Baraka, and Nikki Giovanni and has spoken at the National Black Family reunion, on the National Mall, and at the 40th Anniversary of The March on Washington.

A full time artist and part–time art teacher, Jason Griffin has shown his work in NYC, Brooklyn, LA, Miami, Chicago, DC, and Beijing, and was recently an artist–in–residence in the Netherlands. Griffin attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was awarded an honors art studio. He self–published a book entitled SELF with collaborator Jason Reynolds in 2004.
