Capla Kesting Fine Art presents, David Kesting - The Crime Chronicles - May 27th - June 8th 2005. The exhibit explores the concept of social class struggle through the artists use of original works over the stolen image. Using appropriated artworks, the figurative portraits of celebrity mug shots, as new canvas and applying broad deep color fields over tightly organized and executed large format illustrations of the working classes criminal action, the paintings depict the social opposite of the stolen image, and an insight to the social conflict prevalent in our society. Capla Kesting Fine Art has shown several key works by the artist at their
gallery located in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. Exhibits like Salon
of Refused Works March 2004, Small Works May 2004 and Preview
March 2005 have provided a venue for this mid career artist. The gallery
was created as a brain trust between David Kesting and Lincoln Capla in
2003 as a place to showcase both their and their peers artworks. The Crime Chronicles will open to the public with a reception
for the artist on Friday, May 27th from 6-9 pm
and will be available to view until June 8th. Gallery hours Thursday to
Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 pm, or by appointment.
