Ray
Sell, studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York Ray,
received his BA in Illustration. Working on small collages and paintings
Ray describes the concept of masculine traits depicting the effect our
media plays upon our psyche. Appropriating vintage imagery which Ray re-invents
as paintings with bold contrasting color schemes, strong use of layering
and diagonal lines cut through his canvas, his work keeps the viewer’s
eyes engaged at all times. Having helped found the Bird Beak collective
in 2006 with fellow artist Nick Dyball, Mr. Sell has worked with the group
to bring attention to new artists from his intimate social circles.

Originally CKFA from
Brooklyn New York, the Leo Kesting Gallery started in 2003 and developed
an aggressive campaign to introduce new figurative artists to collectors
and art supports. Leo Kesting offers the art viewing public an opportunity
to see forthcoming talents in an intimate setting where new undiscovered
artists with a cutting edge are exposed to the contemporary art scene.
In this way, we present our collectors with an off-the-beaten-path approach
to
acquiring artwork for our minds and culture. The gallery is located at
812 Washington St at the corner of Ganesvoort in
the meat packing district of West Greenwich Village. A, C, E, or L train
to 8th Ave and 14th Street or 1,2,3 train to 14th Street. Gallery hours
are Tuesday to Sunday from 11am until 7pm.
