Brantner DeAtley was born In Niagara Falls N.Y. in1970.
He completed his Bachelor of fine arts degree through the School of the Museum
of Fine Arts and Tufts University.
In 2003 He and his wife, artist Shoshana Phillips, started an etching studio
called Red Horse Press where they
work, teach and supply workspace for printmakers and aspiring artists. He also
spends his time as an assistant to artist Tom Friedman.
Brantner, Shoshana and their baby boy Lachlan live in western Massachusetts.
About his work he writes:
“The daily ritual of providing form to the spirit inside is my natural
drive. When the studio is alive the work virtually makes itself, it has a life
of it’s own, moving from medium to medium creating itself. The work has
a call and response within its life; the pieces can answer each other’s
questions. As my conscious is barraged by the world’s continuous noise
and questions my subconscious is filtered through the artwork. It transcends
the present world we are living in. Creating its own private mythology. No answers,
only reflections of our ever-changing world as we repeat each other and ourselves
through time.”
