(Auto)biography
My name is John Adam Blum Fahey; I’m 35 years old and live in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. I’ve been doing visual art since I was 18 and I also play music in a band called John Jealousy. We are based in Massachusetts.
Artist’s Statement
My art is about keeping a mathematical balance and rebelling against myself.
I try and create a very harmonic color scheme and feeling without things getting
too close to one another. Transparencies in nature and natural flow really inspire
me. Formulas are really important to my work process as well, in that I will
work out a formula until I feel exhausted or satisfied, then I move on. Growing
up in Manhattan in the 70’s and 80’s, graffiti was my biggest influence
and obsession. Seeing your work, or mark, last through summer after summer,
winter after winter, car after car, really meant something. No matter how small,
we can all be noticed. I have tried many other things my art still rings true
to this notion. These days, I get full images in my head or concepts for formulas
and I try my best to put it on paper, wood, canvas, walls, metal, glass, etc.
